holiday posters

I have been working on a new live brief I got handed the other day. It's quite sometime away yet but the client just want to see some ideas before christmas. They have asked me to create a flyer for a Valentines Day event at Oceana in Southampton in 2010. It was, if I'm honest a very open brief, they literally gave me the colours black and pink and names of a few of the DJ's playing. So hopefully they will give me some more info soon...

more scripts

I have been to uni for the past two days, to catch up on what I haven't learned. On Monday I went in to see Lee about AS3.0 to check if my scripting was write etc. I also asked a few questions about gallery's and buttons and stuff.
Today I went to see Neil about contact forms and CGI scripting in flash. He said it would be quite difficult to do, but we found a few websites to help: website 1, website 2, website 3.

I did a bit of work on the links section as well so when the viewer rolls over the type the picture will come up in the box, I am going to experiment with movie clips because I would like nice fade in...

ActionScript 3.0?

We got another session of flash with Lee today, and he wanted to see the work so we could start putting it together. There is only so much I new I could use in flash catalyst, and it seemed the same for Lee, but now I was onto construction and the best way to do it for this website was through Flash because that's the only way I knew how.
Lee gave us a bit of a recap on flash, but was using action-script 3.0 which I have never used before, so it was a little alien, fortunately he gave us all the action-script we needed to know. I guess it just means more work for me, cause I need to know how to make it work.

web tutorial

I have been trying to decide for a few days now how I'm going to go about creating my final website, and have been concentrating a lot more on the technical side rather than the design side. So far I have discovered how much I'm starting to hate Flash Catalyst and wishing I was able to finish those dreamweaver sessions we started.
My tutorial today went ok and I feel I'm making a steady progress although I would have more of a direction if I knew the program best to use. Justin seemed to like what I had done with the website, but the criticisms were that it didn't have enough of a box feel and the fact that I should tweak the typography to tie in with that theme. He seemed to think stencil would work, but I was going to go with more of the 'fragile label' look, so I shall experiment with both...

little bit of layouts

I have been pretty busy trying to learn a program I know little about, stressing about where I'm going to write coding and stuff. But the image above is a little preview of my gallery for the tutorial tomorrow. I'm hoping it will get shot down so I can move my project on with some constructive criticism. I'm sort of annoyed I have missed out on the screen printing because I have been busy with other work. But hopefully I can do something before deadlines are up.

Skeleton sample1 AE

This is a sample of a box animated in after effects, trying to work out how it would work on my website.

websites

The past few days have been preparing for the new project - which in its simplest form is to build a portfolio website. I have had a few ideas already of how I would like mine to look, but you don't really know what is possible until you have done some research into it.
One website which links to a number of clever websites has helped me to think outside of the box on what I can create.
the FWA is a website award site for clever and innovative websites. I have found it has always helped me to think of the type of thing I can do. Obviously for this project we won't need to go to that extent. But I would like to learn as much as I can.
I was thinking about doing a small animation in maya, for the opening to my website as one of the concepts.
